Clear boundaries for reliable analyses

For environmental data to be interpreted correctly, precise definitions are needed. Here we disclose which foundations our evaluations are based on and where the limits of their significance lie.

Which data sources are included in the analyses?

Our evaluations are based on publicly accessible satellite imagery (Copernicus, Sentinel), measurement series provided by authorities, and soil samples we collect ourselves. The combination of these sources enables a multidimensional view, but does not replace an on-site inspection by a certified laboratory.

How current are the indicators used?

Data currency varies depending on the source: satellite images are usually processed within 48 hours of capture, while official measurement series can be delayed by up to a quarter. For time-critical decisions, we explicitly indicate the recording date of the respective data basis.

What does "soil quality" mean in our reports?

We use the term exclusively for the aggregated assessment of pH value, humus content, water storage capacity, and pollutant load in the topsoil layer (0–30 cm). Deeper horizons or biological indicators such as microorganism diversity are only considered if this was expressly agreed upon in the respective project contract.

What role do GIS models play in resource planning?

GIS-based models serve as decision support, not as automated decision-making. The generated maps show probabilities and spatial relationships. The final assessment always lies with the responsible planning experts, who incorporate local conditions and legal frameworks.

How do we handle uncertainties in the data?

Each analysis report contains a transparency section in which uncertainty factors are quantified – such as cloud cover in satellite imagery or measurement deviations in field devices. If the estimated deviation exceeds 15 percent, we label the affected indicators as indicative and recommend a supplementary detailed investigation.
